A little bit over two years ago we started cobot in order to use it for our own coworking space co.up. Our original use case was to automate invoicing and collecting payments. In the meantime we have expanded cobot to do a host of other things like booking conference rooms, tracking attendance and analytics, but payments have always been at its core. Over time we added support for different payment models, Paypal and ultimately credit card processing, which offers the highest level of convenience for both coworking spaces and coworkers. The problem has been though that spaces had to set up their own merchant accounts, which takes a lot of time and is expensive.
Today at the Global Coworking Unconference Conference 2012 we are announcing our next step — the biggest step we have ever taken:
First we will be offering credit card processing (and many other payment methods) to all our customers — no merchant account required. You sign up your space, your members add their payment details and a few days later the money is in your bank account. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
Secondly we are dropping our monthly fees. So far we charged between $35 and $300 per month depending on the number of members. Instead we will charge a small fee on transactions. By combining the transactions of all our customers we are able to get rates with the credit card companies single spaces couldn’t get, so the pricing will be very competitive.
We are very excited about this and hope you like the new cobot as much as we do. We will roll out these new features very soon. Now go to cobot.me/gcuc and register to be among the first to try it out.
P.S. Apple totally stole our tag line with their “The new iPad”
