Last week we took the chance to attend the Coworking Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2023. The festival not only gave us a great overview of coworking spaces but also of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern itself. Held over three days, the festival is the perfect opportunity to meet people from the coworking industry, local businesses, and coworkers alike. Better still, over the three days, people joining the festival were ferried around the different spaces and locations by a private bus, giving us the opportunity to take in the beauty of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern between activities.
On the first day, we arrived in Ludwigslust, located just next to the UNESCO biosphere reserve, the Mecklenburgisches Elbetal. We were lucky to be greeted with sunny weather, a great sign of things to come. We joined for a reception at DeveLUP, a start-up and incubation center for the European Green Deal in the North of Germany. Afterward, we had the opportunity to have a Guided tour through DeveLUP, followed by a small bus tour through Ludwigslust in an e-bus.
The bus ride was an opportune time to get to know each other on the way to Schwerin, which was a 40-minute drive north. Upon arrival, we had the opportunity to enjoy a short coffee break at Tisch, a café, coworking space, and general meeting point for people in Schwerin. The space is very modern with an inviting bright with no detail missed.
In the evening Tisch was also host to a fascinating pitch event, which was great to further get to know other people at the event, alongside networking, and some drinks.
The second day, like the first, was bright and sunny, putting everyone at the event in a good mood for the day's activities. After a short drive to Sietow, we were greeted by Katharina Scheunemann, founder of HUBMUERITZ.
HUBMUERITZ, is located in the idyllic Mecklenburg-Vorpommern countryside and was a treat to visit. A lovely open kitchen, lots of space to work in, and not to mention the amazing food! We were also treated to a retreat workshop hosted by Vanessa Thielemann founder of BrALI CoWorkation retreats.
With the weather showing no sign of deteriorating, we continued on to Hotel am Schlosspark Güstrow for the evening, where we sat in on a very informative lecture about data protection. After many great exchanges and discussions, we joined the event at the hotel bar to meet people for food and networking.
Day three started off perfectly with a great breakfast at the hotel, followed by a drive to Basislager Rostock. With a podcast room, lots of plants, and a nice big kitchen, it was a great place to visit!
We could not stay around for too long, there was much more to see. Our next destination was Stralsund where we would visit Orangery and then head over to Rügen to check out Project Bay.
Both spaces are situated right by the Baltic Sea, which provides a wonderful view whilst coworking! Additionally, Project Bay also offers Coliving for those who want a change of scenery with the possibility to remote work by the sea.
The Coworking Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2023 was a fantastic time, we discovered many great spaces in the many areas we visited, in addition to seeing some of the most beautiful scenery that Germany has to offer. We want to thank all the incredibly kind hosts and community managers that made the festival so special, we can’t wait for the next one!
