Unique Coworking Spaces Using Cobot

Coworking has come a long way from generic office suites. Around the world, innovators are transforming unexpected places into vibrant work hubs tailored to both big and small communities.

In this blog, we’re spotlighting a few truly unique coworking spaces that use the Cobot management platform in creative ways. These are not your offices; they’re alpine lodges for powder-seeking nomads, beachside oases, beautifully renovated historic mills, parent-friendly havens, and even pop-up workspaces in ice cream shops.

Each space stands out in its mission or location, and each leverages Cobot’s flexibility to make it all work. Read on to discover how these unique coworking communities thrive, and how Cobot adapts to their one-of-a-kind needs.

The Ski Locker – Alpine Coworking Adventure ⛰

High in the French Alps, The Ski Locker provides a workspace with a view of snow-capped peaks at the junction of France, Switzerland, and Italy. Founded in Chamonix in 2014, it caters to digital nomads and outdoor enthusiasts who split their time between hitting the slopes and hitting deadlines. The community is as diverse as it is adventurous—hikers, skiers, and snowboarders from around the world come to work and play, bonding over a shared love of mountains. With ~35 desks and four meeting rooms, The Ski Locker even doubles as a retreat base for teams who want a “work hard, play hard” experience on the mountain.

Running a workspace for globetrotting powder hounds came with unique challenges. The founders initially juggled everything with Excel spreadsheets, but as seasonal members flowed in and out, “it was proving difficult to scale” and easy to lose track of payments. Patrik Spathon, who manages the space, recalls that the tipping point for switching to Cobot was the invoicing chaos: “We were handling all our payments on Excel, which you can really lose track of”. By adopting Cobot, The Ski Locker automated the busywork—billing, tracking late payments, room bookings, membership plan changes—all the stuff that used to eat into their time. Now the system quietly handles it in the background, freeing the small team to focus on building community (and maybe carving out a bit more time on the slopes). They even integrated Cobot’s RADIUS Wi-Fi authentication to control access: if someone’s membership or day-pass credits lapse, they simply can’t log on to the Wi-Fi.

This clever use of Cobot means The Ski Locker doesn’t need a front desk attendant; the software acts as an unseen concierge, so only those who’ve paid can connect, letting the crew run lean while everyone stays connected. With plans to expand into a new floor (for even more desks and post-powder productivity), The Ski Locker shows how a little automation can go a long way. Patrik puts it best: switching to Cobot lifted the burden of tracking invoices and members, which in turn made his life as a full-time worker much easier.

White Forest – Beachside Remote Work Oasis 🏄‍♀️

Sun, surf, and… startups? At White Forest in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, you’re a one-minute stroll from catching Atlantic Ocean breezes during your lunch break. Opened in 2022, this modern coworking community is tucked down a quiet street just 150 meters from Las Canteras Beach.

The space itself is bright and fully renovated, with large desks, phone booths, and even an auditorium for events. Its decor blends coastal chill with professional polish—think clean design, splashes of greenery, and plenty of natural light to keep you inspired. White Forest attracts remote workers and freelancers who want all the perks of a top-notch office (fast Wi-Fi, comfy lounge, complimentary coffee and water) without sacrificing the island vibes.

The founders of White Forest set out to create a 24/7 accessible workspace, knowing that flexibility is key when you’re catering to global nomads. But of course, launching a round-the-clock coworking hub came with a checklist of needs: automated invoicing (to handle international members seamlessly), door access systems for off-hours entry, and a robust membership platform to keep it all organized. In the early days, they struggled to find one solution that covered all these bases. And that’s where we swooped in!

By using Cobot alongside smart integrations (like electronic door locks), White Forest was able to offer true self-service access—meaning staff don’t need to be on-site just to let people in. Co-founder Janaina notes,

“Thanks to Cobot we were able to have more free time and didn’t have to be at the space to open the door for each person coming by unless we wanted to.”

White Forest’s favorite Cobot features include the simple member onboarding and the way it seamlessly handles recurring billing—crucial for a small team wearing many hats. The result? A carefree, “always open” coworking oasis where everything just works. Members can come and go as they please, and the White Forest crew can spend less time on admin and more time on what matters: hosting meetups, grabbing a surf after work, and fostering that special blend of productivity and paradise.

juggleHUB – Where Work and Childcare Coexist 🧑‍🍼

For any working parent, the term “juggle” hits home—and at juggleHUB in Berlin, it’s more than a metaphor. This pioneering coworking space, founded in 2016, was built around a simple but rare concept: why not combine a coworking office with on-site childcare?

At juggleHUB, professionals can finish a presentation while their toddlers finger-paint next door. The space is warm and family-friendly, complete with a playroom full of toys and dedicated staff to mind the little ones. It fills a glaring gap the founders noticed in the startup scene: most coworking spaces had zero accommodations for parents with young kids. JuggleHUB set out to change that, and in doing so, cultivated a welcoming community for all kinds of workers—parents, non-parents, freelancers, remote employees—anyone seeking a supportive workspace with a bit of homey comfort.

Of course, integrating childcare into a coworking model isn’t as easy as tossing a crib in the corner. Silvia Steude, one of juggleHUB’s co-founders, calls their childcare offering a “love project”—the heart of the space, but also a complex one. In the early days, managing daycare bookings and payments was a major headache. Members would sometimes cancel a childcare reservation last-minute or forget to show up, not realizing how much staffing and coordination went on behind the scenes. Spreadsheets and manual tracking quickly became unworkable as the community grew.

And, (once again), that’s where we came in! Using Cobot’s booking system, the team set up prepaid booking passes and firm booking deadlines for the childcare service. Now parents reserve child supervision slots just like meeting rooms, and Cobot enforces a minimum cancellation period so that schedules aren’t upended at the last minute. Automated invoicing through Cobot also swept away the tangled web of spreadsheets; what used to involve tracking people down for payments turned into a smooth, background process. The difference has been night and day: juggleHUB wouldn’t be juggleHUB without childcare, as Silvia says, and Cobot’s tools have made that core service sustainable.

Now the juggleHUB team can focus on greeting new families, organizing events, and ensuring that both the co and the working parts of coworking are equally taken care of. As a piece of advice for fellow space operators, Silvia notes that understanding your different sources of income is key: juggleHUB balances its offerings (events, team office rentals, etc.) to cover costs, and having a platform like Cobot to manage those multiple streams makes it a whole lot easier to keep all the balls in the air.

Die Diele – Community Coworking with a Twist 🍦

Die Diele is proof that coworking can have a big heart and a flair for the unexpected, all while running on efficient tech. Tucked in the Ottensen district of Hamburg, Germany, this neighborhood coworking space was founded by Lucas Oppermann, who previously worked in his family’s real estate management business since 2013. Lucas wanted to create a more personal and pleasant way of working in real estate, rather than only dealing with tenants when building issues arose.

As part of his master’s thesis, he spent six months researching what makes public spaces appealing and developed a business plan for Die Diele, which opened in April 2018 with a mission to create a local coworking space with community values. The atmosphere is personal and welcoming—Lucas and his team know everyone by name, and they frequently host public workshops and community events, supporting small local organizations in the process.

But perhaps the most delightful twist in Die Diele’s journey was the winter an ice cream shop became part of their coworking family. Yes, you read that right: when a tiny gelato shop on the block closed for the off-season one year, the Die Diele team saw an opportunity. They temporarily expanded into that vacant shop and dubbed it “DIE (EIS-)DIELE” (German for “The Icecream Parlor”).

Members could work from the erstwhile ice cream parlor, enjoying a change of scenery and a fun conversation starter (“I’m working from an ice cream shop today!”). Orchestrating this pop-up could have been a logistical nightmare—tracking who used the space, managing passes, Wi-Fi access, etc. —but Cobot made it a breeze.

By embracing Cobot’s flexible features, Lucas can get creative—whether partnering with local coffee roasters or literally turning an ice cream shop into an office—without getting bogged down in admin work. It’s the perfect marriage of heart and technology: a neighborhood coworking hub powered by software that’s serious about making things simple.

SpaceHoppers – A Cozy Creative Hub in an Old Wool Mill 🌾

Some spaces truly charm us with small-town personality. SpaceHoppers is a boutique co-working hub tucked away in a beautifully restored woolen mill in the English countryside. Set in Stroud, SpaceHoppers was literally imagined on the dusty floor of an empty mill loft. The founders recall how “SpaceHoppers started with a space... a space in a beautifully restored woollen mill just off Slad Road. We knew we had to have it, and we knew that we had to share it”.

They spent winter evenings of 2014 sketching a floor plan in chalk and scrounging furniture from friends. The result was “a space with style, warmth and character, where collaborations would happen, ideas could blossom and friendships would form”. Indeed, “it’s not actually about the space... It’s about the people,” the founders say. SpaceHoppers today exudes that personal touch: sunlight pours through old factory windows onto eclectic décor; there’s always organic coffee brewing and often a friendly dog or two under the desks. With only two open-plan rooms and a handful of private offices, it feels less like an office and more like a close-knit studio.

The community (endearingly called the “Hoppers”) is tightly knit – members celebrate each other’s new clients and commiserate over tough days. The founders proudly state,

“We meet and get to know every single person who walks through our door, and we genuinely give a sht about our ‘Hoppers’. We know the names of their children, when their pets die, ... why they need an extra strong coffee this morning”.

That unfiltered passion (yes, they really said they give a sht!) creates a supportive atmosphere where freelancers and remote workers feel at home.

But don’t let the cozy vibe fool you – SpaceHoppers runs on smart tech too. They use Cobot to handle their membership plans, and allow members can book a private office or dedicated desk online. This keeps the admin overhead low for the two co-founders, who juggle community events (like regular “Hopper Lunch” potlucks). By automating billing and reservations with Cobot, SpaceHoppers’ owners have more time to focus on personal touches – like greeting members by name every morning and stocking up on those beloved Tunnocks teacakes and breakfast supplies. In a world of slick city coworking chains, SpaceHoppers shows that a small, heartfelt space can thrive with the help of a solid management system and a whole lot of community spirit.

Conclusion

From a ski-town retreat or a beachside haven to a parent’s sanctuary, a repurposed ice cream parlor or woolen mill, these coworking spaces couldn’t be more different. Yet, behind the scenes, each relies on the same flexible platform to make their magic happen. Cobot’s strength lies in its adaptability: it handles multilingual invoicing and Wi-Fi integrations (even in the Alps), 24/7 door access, layered booking rules, and a sense of connectedness thanks to our community section. The software bends to the needs of the space – not the other way around. And importantly, it fades into the background, letting community and creativity take center stage.

As these stories show, Cobot gives operators the freedom to focus on what truly matters in their unique environments: connecting people, making space for creativity, and building the kind of community you can’t find in most offices. In the end, no matter how unique the coworking concept, Cobot proves to be the reliable common denominator – helping each space run like clockwork while they boldly break the mold.
